St Gertrude said this prayer often. Jesus showed her in a vision many souls going up to heaven from purgatory as a result of this prayer. Pray it devoutly daily. This can be said as a prayer or as a chaplet. See chaplets. This prayer has been altered through the years to expand beyond the souls in purgatory.

Whenever Saint Mechtilde, (a mystic nun 1241-1298) a student of St. Gertrude, recited this prayer taught to her by JESUS, she saw legions of souls leaving Purgatory and ascending to Heaven. Pray daily to release souls from Purgatory, remember they will pray for you.

OUR FATHER, WHO ART IN HEAVEN, I beseech You, O Heavenly Father, pardon the Souls in Purgatory, for they did not love You sufficiently, nor render to You all the honor which is Your due, due to You their Lord and Father, Who, by pure grace, have adopted them as Your children.
